Ayurveda

Ayurveda means "the science of life" and teaches us about living, on all levels, in harmony with the environment and the universe around us. It encompassed the oldest form of herbal medicine known dating back to the ancient Vedic culture of India whose people originally spoke the Sanskrit language.

Ayurveda recommends a well balanced lifstyle as the way to maintain health based on three fundamental constitutions or body types. Ayurveda is all inclusive in that it encompasses not only yoga, meditation, and food guidelines (nutrition), but surgery and astrology are among other areas. As far as we know, it is the original holistic medicine dating back 8,000-10,000 years. The three doshas or constitutions called vata, pitta, and kapha are associated with the three fundamental principles of life-air, fire, and water. All three doshas are necessary for life to exist. The goal of the healing art of Ayurveda is to balance the three doshas to bring the body, mind, and spirit into harmony with nature.

Personal Experiences

I have assumed a vegetarian diet after seeking an Ayurvedic recommendation. I only use organic foods, take no supplements, no coffee, no alcohol and flood my diet with many juices including vegetable types too- also meditate and exercise on a daily routine.

Find every 'Cause' seeking human assistance of interest to you, give deeply, Love well and quickly discover your true value.

I underwent an emergency resect surgery in 9/06, started Gleevec for the following 8 months until a fresh tumor bloomed near my lower colon, again the size of a grapefruit and again almost costing my life.

I sought a Vaidya in May 07, as my Oncologist recommended eating more fruit and not being too far from an ER. Surgery was imminent.

Following the Ayurvedic diet has improved my health and overall health more than everything I do. I will add, the Prayers, Sentiments and Thoughts of Others, are the only thing of greater value.

Cilantro, Parsley, Turmeric and most vegetables display healing qualities (and have for eons!). Qi Gong followers promote the value of seeds (which I consume many), whole fruits made into juices...there is much to discover with an Internet querry.
