Gleevec and Dental Surgery
2/2008 Dr. Chris Garrett, oncologist (mine) at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, replied to my inquiry with the following (direct quote):
"Before major dental surgery (extraction,root canal) we recommend discontinuing imatinib three days before and resume 24 hours afterwards. There is NO requirement to hold imatinib for noninvasive dental procedures such as a routine cleaning."
