GIST Support WikiAdministrators are individuals who have special permissions or on this wiki. These permissions allow them to do things (e.g., delete pages) that typical wiki users cannot do, such as deleting and protecting pages. They are not necessarily the same individuals who are administrators of the email list, although they may be.
There are two primary types of administrators: sysops and bureaucrats. For information on this wiki's administrators, see Wiki Team.
[edit] Sysops
A sysop is a user with the technical ability to delete and undelete pages, and view deleted revisions of pages; block and unblock users, individual IP addresses, and ranges of IP addresses; protect and unprotect pages; and edit the interface (the MediaWiki namespace).

[edit] Bureaucrats
Bureaucrats can do all the same things as sysops, plus they can make other users sysops or bureaucrats using the Special:Userrights page; specific information on how this is done can be found at Help:Administration#Making_Administrators.
