GIST Support Wiki[edit] Introduction
A template page includes wikitext that can easily be added to other pages in the wiki. Templates are used in situations where you have some common block of text that needs to show up on many pages. Templates can be found in the "Template:" namespace.

[edit] Example Template
The template: Template:Needs_updating includes a short statement that can be inserted into existing pages to indicate that the page includes outdated content and needs to be updated. To insert this template, just add the text {{Needs_updating}} when editing the page. If it is entered at the top of the page, then the template will show up at the top of the page. Likewise, if it is entered at the bottom of the page.
Below is what the template looks like (note that this one would best be shown at the top of a page, although for this example we show it at the bottom):
